Jorge Deleon Diaz, a former Vineland resident, was convicted on four counts following a trial that began with jury selection on Feb. 4, 2025, Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae said.
Prosecutors presented eyewitness testimony, DNA evidence, and statements made by Diaz to prove he sexually assaulted the victim on July 25, 2023.
The jury returned a guilty verdict on the following charges:
- First-Degree Aggravated Sexual Assault
- Second-Degree Sexual Assault
- Third-Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child
- Fourth-Degree Lewdness
Diaz now faces 25 years to life in prison under the Lunsford Act for the first-degree charge alone, officials said. His sentencing is scheduled for May 19, 2025.
In addition to his prison term, Diaz will be subject to Megan’s Law registration and Parole Supervision for Life, prosecutors said.
The case was prosecuted by Cumberland County Assistant Prosecutors Holly Fanelle and Erin McGlynn, while Diaz was represented by attorneys Zachary Sclar and Andrew Moon.
Superior Court Judge Niki Arbittier, J.S.C., presided over the trial.
